Mail from a journalist friend

>i will soon know the date of the athens trip.the main question the text
>should answer is simple: what happened that so many young people went into
>the street to protest so heavily? and against what?and what do they want?
>why did they have quite a big public support? and then trying to undestand
>the situation of the young people – to see if this is a greek phenomenon
>or something that could erupt in any other west european country.

Well of course the tip of the iceburg was the killing of the 15 year old student but as i said that was the excuse.
For long now all public life has been corrupted. Government, police, justice, church. Everyone tries to steal you, to make the most out of
you. There is no respect and corruption is all over. Prices are getting higher, the environment deteriorates (rememember last years’ fires)
and still the TV plays shows about lifestyle, students are pressed take extra private courses in the evening so that they can make it to the
university and of course speak 2-3 languages and then take a master so that they can make 700-900 euros. I have a friend that she makes 950 euros
a month. She has no deposit at the bank. We lived having more comfort when we grew up. Now we have to work endless hours just to make smth more
than the basic. But the worse is that we do not have any hope. No more olympics, no more blooming stockmarkets, world economical break down.
All politicians have been tested and failed. But greeks will vote for them because they are sheeps, they just think in personal terms.
And this uprise was beyond the personal ego. You could see people dressed in suites yelling at policemen who were beating schoolchildren and even
anachists because violence is worse than ideological differences. All though there were tear gas, globs, fire, violence from protestores, I could
feel humanity in the air, social centered thinking. That did not happen for a long time. People were just focused in buying goods at the new Mall
watching TV and surfing on Facebook when on the same time the system steals their money, their time and their life.
